This policy explains how Sorenson Advertising, LLC, a Utah limited liability company ("Revolt Local," "we," "us"), collects, uses and shares information when you use Revolt Local. That includes revoltlocal.com and its signup pages, the customer app, the destination-partner dashboard, the websites we build and host for businesses, and the marketing services we provide.

Revolt Local is a marketing service for local businesses, so most of what we hold is information about businesses. Where we handle information about people, this policy says what it is, why we have it, and what we never do with it.

1Who this policy covers

  • Businesses that sign up ("customers"), and the people at those businesses who use the app.
  • Destination partners: the destination marketing organizations that introduce businesses to Revolt Local, and the people who use their partner dashboard.
  • Our customers' customers: people whose details a business gives us so we can send review requests or newsletters for it, and people who leave reviews, comments or messages on a business's accounts.
  • Visitors to revoltlocal.com and to the websites we host for businesses.

Revolt Local is operated from the United States for businesses in the United States. It is not directed to people in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.

2What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name and email address, and your business's name, category, town and contact details, which you give us at signup or when you join a waitlist because your category is full.
  • Business information: details you provide at intake and in monthly updates, such as hours, services, menus, prices, policies, photos, logos and brand files.
  • Approvals and requests: what you approve, change or send back, and what you tell us in support requests.
  • Signatures: the name of the person who signs for the business, when they signed, and which documents they accepted.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe tells us whether a payment succeeded so we can manage your subscription.

Information from accounts you connect

Described in Section 3.

Information collected automatically

  • Activity records: when you sign in and the actions you take in the app, such as approvals, which we keep as an audit trail.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, which our hosting provider logs so we can run and secure the service.
  • Results on websites we host: we count calls to tracking phone numbers, clicks on booking links and form submissions, so we can report results to the business. We don't record calls.
  • Messages sent through websites we host: if you contact a business through a website we host for it, we store the name, email address, phone number and message you send and pass them to that business so it can reply.

We don't intentionally collect sensitive information such as government ID numbers, health information or financial account numbers.

3Accounts you connect

To market your business, we need access to accounts such as your Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Facebook Page, Instagram professional account, TikTok account and LinkedIn Page. You can give us access in one of two ways:

  • Manager or partner access. Inside the platform, you add Revolt Local as a manager or partner: for example, by adding our account as a manager of your Business Profile, adding our Business Portfolio as a partner in Meta Business Suite, linking your ad account to our Google Ads manager account, adding us as a partner in TikTok Business Center, or giving our account a content admin role on your LinkedIn Page. We then work through our own Revolt Local business accounts, and we never receive your password.
  • Connecting on the platform's own screen. Where we offer it, you can connect an account by approving Revolt Local on the platform's authorization screen. The platform then gives us an access token that lets us act only within the permissions you approved. We ask only for the permissions we need, and we never ask for or store your password.

What we receive. Depending on the platform and the permissions you grant, we may receive:

  • the account's name, identifier and profile details, so we know which account we're working in
  • the content we publish for you, and the identifier the platform returns for it
  • performance information, such as views, reach, clicks, calls, direction requests, engagement and follower counts, and aggregated audience statistics
  • reviews, comments and messages on your accounts, including the public name of the person who left them, so we can reply for you
  • for ad accounts, campaign settings, spend and results

How we use it. Only to deliver the services in your agreement: publishing approved content, replying to reviews and comments for you, managing the campaigns you approve, and reporting results to you.

What we never do with it. We never sell it. We never use it to target ads or build audiences outside your own accounts, never use one business's account data for another business, never use it to build profiles of the people who interact with your accounts, and never use it to train AI models.

Where a platform's own terms are stricter than this policy, the platform's terms apply.

Google

Revolt Local's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide the features described in this section. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell it. People on our team see it only as part of delivering the service you asked for (for example, reading a review in order to reply to it), for security, to comply with the law, or once it has been aggregated and made anonymous.

You can remove our access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by removing Revolt Local as a manager of your Business Profile or ad account.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

Our use of information from Meta is also governed by the Meta Platform Terms. You can remove Revolt Local at any time: in Meta Business Suite, remove our Business Portfolio as a partner, or on Facebook go to Settings & privacy, then Settings, then Business integrations, and remove Revolt Local. How to ask us to delete information we received from Meta is in Section 10.

TikTok

Our use of information from TikTok is also governed by TikTok's developer terms. You can remove Revolt Local as a partner in TikTok Business Center, or disconnect it in your TikTok account's app-permission settings.

LinkedIn

We use LinkedIn's Community Management API to publish approved posts as your LinkedIn Page, reply to comments on its posts, and report its results. We always post as your Page, never as the person who connected it, and we don't read or post to anyone's personal profile. When you connect, LinkedIn tells us which Pages your account administers, so we can confirm you're allowed to connect them. Our use of information from LinkedIn is also governed by LinkedIn's API Terms of Use. You can remove Revolt Local at any time: on LinkedIn, go to Settings, then Data privacy, then Permitted services, and remove Revolt Local, or remove our account's role on your Page.

4How we use information

  • To deliver the marketing services in your agreement
  • To draft content from your business facts, with a person reviewing every draft
  • To publish what's approved, and reply to reviews and comments on your behalf
  • To bill you and manage your subscription
  • To contact you about your account, approvals, billing and support
  • To keep a record of what was approved and published, and by whom
  • To make future drafts for your business closer to your voice (see Section 5)
  • To keep Revolt Local secure, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations

5How we use AI

We use AI tools to write first drafts of content from the business facts you give us. The information needed for a draft is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, under commercial terms that don't allow it to use that data to train its models. We send only what the task needs, never payment details.

A named person on our team reviews every draft before it's published. When you or our team change a draft, we save the change and use it to make your future drafts closer to your voice. We don't use your information, your customers' information or information from your connected accounts to train AI models. Our "How we use AI" disclosure sets out the rules we follow.

6Your customers' information

If we send review requests or newsletters for a business, we handle the customer contact list it gives us. That list belongs to the business. We use it only on the business's instructions and only for that business, and we never sell it. Messages people send a business through a website we host are handled the same way: they belong to the business, and we use them only to deliver them to it. For this work we act as the business's service provider, and a Data Processing Agreement applies before any email is sent.

  • Every marketing email includes a working one-click unsubscribe, and we honor it.
  • We send text messages only to people the business confirms have given prior express written consent, and anyone can stop them by replying STOP.
  • Every customer in a review campaign gets the same request. We never choose who is asked based on how happy they seem.

If you're a customer of a business that uses Revolt Local and want your details removed, contact that business, or email us and we'll act on the request for our part and pass it to the business.

Reviews, comments and messages you leave on a business's Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn accounts are handled as described in Section 3, only so the business can reply to you.

7Who we share information with

We never sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Service providers

We share information with companies that help us run Revolt Local, and only as much as each one needs:

  • Stripe: payments and fraud prevention
  • Supabase: our database, file storage and sign-in
  • Vercel: website and app hosting
  • Resend: email delivery
  • Anthropic: AI drafting, as described in Section 5
  • Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts: the typefaces on our pages, which receive your IP address when they load
  • Google Workspace: our team's own email and files

Others

  • The platforms themselves, when we publish, reply or report through the accounts you've connected
  • Your destination partner, only as described in Section 8
  • For legal reasons: to comply with the law or valid legal process, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of people or of Revolt Local
  • In a business transfer: if we're involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of it, still covered by this policy
  • With your permission, or at your direction

8Your destination partner

If you joined through a destination marketing organization, it sees aggregate information about participation in its destination and a list of participating businesses, which you can opt out of. It never sees your fees, contract, reviews, reports or your customers' information.

9Cookies

Revolt Local uses only the cookies it needs to work, principally to keep you signed in. Our payment provider, Stripe, sets cookies on checkout pages to prevent fraud. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't run behavioral analytics or tracking pixels on Revolt Local pages.

10Deleting your information

You can ask us to delete your information at any time. Email hello@revoltlocal.com from the address on your account, with "Delete my data" in the subject line, and tell us which business or account it concerns. We'll confirm we received it and complete the deletion within 30 days, except for records the law requires us to keep and the approval audit trail described in Section 11.

Information from connected platforms. When you remove our access on a platform, we can no longer retrieve new information from it. When a connection is removed, we delete the access tokens we held for it, and on request we delete the information we received through it. You can ask for this by email as above.

If deleting information would stop us delivering part of the services in your agreement, we'll tell you before we go ahead.

11How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. After your agreement ends, we keep it for 90 days to complete the handback of your accounts and materials, then delete or anonymize it. We keep the approval audit trail for 3 years as the record of what was approved and published, and we keep records the law requires, such as billing records.

12Security

We keep each business's data separate at the database level, so one business can never see another's. We encrypt access tokens for connected accounts, limit staff access to the people working on your account, and require sign-in for everything that isn't public. Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email, so there are no Revolt Local passwords to steal. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

13Your rights and choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. You can disconnect any linked account at any time and unsubscribe from any marketing email.

Depending on where you live, including California, state privacy law may give you further rights, such as the right to know what we collect and why, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we won't treat you differently for using any of these rights. To make a request, email hello@revoltlocal.com. We'll verify that the request is yours, and you may use an authorized agent.

14Where information is stored

We're based in the United States, and our service providers store and process information in the United States.

15Children

Revolt Local is for businesses and isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

16Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll publish the new version at revoltlocal.com/privacy and in your document center, and tell customers directly about material changes. The version you accepted always stays available in your document center.
